When is the voter registration deadline for the April 1 General Election?
The deadline for registering online or by mail is March 12, 2025, visit myvote.wi.gov for more information.
Voters can also register in person at their Municipal Clerk through 5 p.m. on March 28; and at their polling location on April 1, 2025.
When will mail ballots be sent out for the April 1 Spring Election?
Ballots will start to be mailed out on March 11, 2025.
When does early in-person voting begin for the April 1 Spring Election?
In person early voting begins as soon as Tuesday, March 18, and goes as late as Sunday, March 30. Times, dates, and locations vary by municipality.

What is the deadline to request a mail ballot for the April 1 Election?
The deadline to request a mail ballot for the April 1 Spring Election is March 18.
How do I fill out my absentee mail ballot?
Follow the voting instructions that come with your ballot to fill out all of the fields, and make sure you vote your ballot in the presence of a witness (a US citizen who is at least 18 years old); they don’t need to see who you vote for, that’s private. Make sure your witness signs your ballot certificate and includes their address. If you have any questions, or feel like you made an error on your ballot, contact your local clerk’s office.
How do I return my absentee mail ballot?
Please follow the instructions to complete and return it immediately. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m., Election Day, April 1.
Returning your ballot by mail? We recommend dropping it in the mail at least a week ahead of time to ensure it is received by April 1st.
Drop off your ballot in person: There are two ways to drop your ballot off in person:
You can drop it off at your clerk’s office through election day, or follow the directions that came with your ballot to find out if you should take it to your polling place or an absentee counting location on Election Day by 8 p.m. (the directions may vary by municipality).
After you vote, you can check the status of your absentee ballot at myvote.wi.gov
What are the Election Day voting hours?
Polls are open on Election Day (General Election: Tuesday, April 1) from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voter ID rules
You will need to show an original copy of an acceptable photo ID to vote at your polling place or to cast an in-person absentee ballot at your municipal clerk's office.
A Wisconsin DOT-issued driver license, even if driving privileges are revoked or suspended, and with or without a star in the right-hand corner.
A Wisconsin DOT-issued identification card, with or without a star in the right-hand corner
Military ID card issued by a U.S. uniformed service
A U.S. passport
An identification card issued by a federally recognized Indian tribe in Wisconsin (May be used even if expired before the most recent general election.)
A photo identification card issued by a Wisconsin accredited university or college that contains date of issuance, signature of student, and an expiration date no later than two years after date of issuance. (May be used even if expired before the most recent general election.)
If the university or college ID is expired, the student ID must be accompanied by a separate document that proves current enrollment.
These photo IDs are also acceptable for voting purposes, but must be unexpired:
A veteran’s photo identification card issued by the Veterans Health Administration of the federal Department of Veterans Affairs
A certificate of naturalization that was issued not earlier than two years before the date of an election at which it is presented
A driving receipt issued by Wisconsin DOT (valid for 45 days)
An identification card receipt issued by Wisconsin DOT (valid for 45 days)
You will also be required to provide a photocopy of your ID to cast an absentee ballot by mail.
